E8: The Heart of Hackney was an exhibition at Transition Gallery of work by eight contemporary artists including Tom Hunter, Laura Oldfield-Ford and walkwalkwalk. The artists responded to the postcode in which the gallery is located in a wide range of ways and work in the show takes in photography, painting, sculpture, drawing, audio and interactive walks.

Barbaresi & Round approached the show by interviewing the area’s senior residents about their experiences of housing over the last 60 years. In response to these conversations they made work about housing density in E8 and the move out to less crowded suburban areas.

Barbaresi & Round’s edited interviews with local residents were included in the gallery publication which can be purchased at the Transition gallery shop.
